Fabric Care & Cleaning

One of the best ways to keep the fabrics looking good and to delay the need for deep or vigorous cleanings is to hose the cover off on a monthly basis with clear water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply embedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more frequent vigorous cleanings. In most environments, a thorough cleaning will be needed every two to three years. When it's time for a thorough cleaning, Grill Wrap fabrics can be cleaned while still on the grill or they can be removed for cleaning in a washing machine.

If you are cleaning the cover while still on the grill, follow these simple steps:

bulletBrush off loose dirt.
bulletHose down.
bulletPrepare a cleaning mixture of water and
mild, natural soap (no detergents).
bulletUse a soft bristle brush to clean.
bulletAllow soap to soak in.
bulletRinse thoroughly.
bulletAir dry.

If stubborn stains persist, you can use a diluted chlorine bleach/soap
mixture for spot cleaning of mildew, roof run-off and other similar stains.
Prepare a special cleaning mixture:

bulletFour ounces (half cup) of chlorine bleach.
bulletTwo ounces (one-fourth cup) of natural soap.
bulletOne gallon of water.
bulletClean with soft bristle brush.
bulletAllow mixture to soak for up to 20 minutes.
bulletRinse thoroughly.
bulletAir dry.
bulletRepeat if necessary.

When cleaning Grill Wrap fabrics, it is important to observe the following:

bulletAlways use a natural soap. Never detergent.
bulletWater should be cold to lukewarm. Never more than 100 degrees.
bulletAir dry only. Never apply heat to Deck-Mate®, Stamoid® or Sunbrella® fabrics.

For a washing machine, these steps should be followed:

bulletUse only natural soaps. No detergent.
bulletWash and rinse in cold water.
bulletAir dry. Never put the fabrics in your dryer.

After a thorough cleaning, Deck-Mate® & Sunbrella® fabrics should be treated to re-establish water repellency. Deck-Mate® & Sunbrella® fabrics are treated with fluorocarbon-based water repellency chemicals during manufacturing, and it is recommended that a fluorocarbon product be used for retreatment.
